A chemical peel is a cosmetic treatment to get rid of surface skin imperfection by means of a special chemical compound aimed at causing “controlled” skin damage leading to a superficial wound.

Our skin has the natural ability to repair damage by producing new collagen and new surface cells which leads to improvement in the skin's appearance.

Several types of chemical peels are utilized by physicians and aestheticians depending on multitude of factors. Type of skin (light or dark, oily or dry, sensitive skin or rosacea prone skin etc.), nature of skin problem (acne, poor texture, brown pigmentation, fine lines and so forth), current medications, history of scarring and prior response to skin treatments are some of the factors taken into consideration when selecting a particular type of chemical peel. Chemical peels vary based on the PH and the depth at which they can penetrate the skin and incur skin damage.

Chemical peels should always be done by an experienced aesthetician and deeper, prescription medicated chemical peels should be done under physician supervision by a physician experienced in cosmetic skincare

Because chemical skin peels damage the skin, we recommend a period of rest and repair in between chemical peels for optimum results.

As with any cosmetic procedure, there are risks involved with chemical peels and include possibility of infection, scarring and pigment changes.

Chemical peels are not for everyone, if you have very sensitive skin or allergy to any of the ingredients in the chemical peels, you are not a candidate for chemical peel.
