Compared to the older hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane, Belotero Balance is a newer-generation HA that is formulated in such a way that it can be placed in very superficial fine lines and wrinkles closer to the surface of the skin without causing some of the common problems noted with the older HA fillers when injected so close the surface of skin; notably lumps, bumps and the bluish discoloration,the Tyndall effect, which sometimes lasts even after the HA filler is completely dissolved. Is it Painful?
Dr. Malik applies topical numbing creme to the area to numb the initial needle stick and adds a little lidocaine (topical anesthetic) to the Belotero Balance syringe to further minimize any discomfort associated with the dermal filler injections.
Do I Need a Skin Test Before Belotero Dermal Filler Treatment?
Allergy test prior to HA filler treatments is not routinely recommended
Hyaluronic acid (HA)-based injectables as well as polylactic acid (PLA)-based fillers, are reported to have a lower incidence of complications compared to permanent fillers.
Unlike collagen dermal fillers, allergic skin tests are not routinely recommended due to lower incidence of true allergic reaction to HA. However, there is always a possibility of allergic reaction whenever a foreign substance is injected into your body. For HA fillers this could be the additives or other impurities in the manufacturing process instead of the HA itself.
How Long Does Belotero Balance Last?
Belotero Balance can last from 7-10 months depending on the individual, the site and the amount injected.
