ECLIPSE MICROPEN™ Q & A

Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT with Automated Micro-Needling is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance. During this cosmetic skin treatment, micro needles are used to induce controlled micro-wounds on the surface layer of your skin which stimulates collagen and elastin for wound healing. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker dermis with softer appearance of wrinkles and scars. Eclipse Micropen™ also creates superficial micro-channels which allow topical skin treatment gels, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory creams and serums to be absorbed more effectively into the skin.
What are the Benefits of the Micropen treatment?
The micro-needling treatments can lead to an improvement in the following skin conditions:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Photo-aging, rough, leathery skin texture
- Hyper-pigmentation (surface brown spots)
- Hypo-pigmentation
- Acne scars
- Traumatic scars
- Stretch marks
A series of three to four treatments, four to six weeks apart, can lead to a healthier, fresher looking more youthful and smoother skin.
What areas of the body can I treat?
Eclipse Micropen™ can be used on several parts of the body;
- Face
- Nneck
- Décolleté
- Arms
- Hands
- Legs
- Abdomen
- Back
How is the Micropen procedure done?
A sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny micro-needles is attached to the Eclipse Micropen™. Our experienced and well trained clinical skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical gel to your skin and select the appropriate treatment depth based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered. Think of this experience as a MUCH more aggressive microdermabrasion.
What will I Feel during the treatment?
The feeling associated with the Eclipse Micropen™ is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating needle tip reduces discomfort while the applied hydrating gel also makes the treatment more tolerable. Most of our patients find this treatment very tolerable with minimal discomfort. We realize that individual pain tolerance varies and your experience is as unique as you.
How long does the procedure take?
The time it takes to complete a treatment varies with the area being treated. For full face, typically the procedure takes about 15-20 minutes on a n already numb area. We give you a prescription for your numbing crème at the time of your consultation which you can apply 30-60 minutes before your appointment.
What will be my downtime after Micro-needling treatment?
Immediately after the treatment you may notice moderate redness and mild swelling of the skin.
The total healing time depends on the depth of needles used and the number of overlapping passes your skincare professional performs. On average, our patients experience redness up to 2 to 4 days. Some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours. Your post procedure skincare is vital to speedy recovery and eventual results. We combine our treatments with physician grade recovery skincare products consisting of hyaluronic acid, Vitamins, copper peptide, epidermal growth factors and fibroblast growth factors can help to speed up the healing process.
When will I see the results?
Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment as collagen production continues.
How many treatments will I need?
Some patients only require a single treatment, once per year as a maintenance type treatment to keep the skin surface looking smooth and flawless. Others may benefit from a number of regularly scheduled treatments to address specific concerns, such as rough texture, scars, fine lines etc. For individuals with mild photo-aging, fine lines, shallow acne scars, we recommend starting with a series of 3 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart followed by a maintenance schedule depending on their skin response and need. For patients with deeper wrinkles, moderate to advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or medium depth acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6 week intervals.
For facial sagging, deep wrinkles, deep scars, we recommend a more advanced treatment option; The Microneedle Fractional Radio frequency (MFR) non surgical skin tightening treatment in Dallas and Southlake, which is a much deeper treatment with use of radiofrequency for further collagen stimulation in the deeper dermis.
