How does the MicroPen™ treatment work?

The MicroPen™  treatment works with the body's natural immune response in a treatment called "percutaneous collagen induction therapy" (PCIT). The MicroPen™'s tiny needles penetrate the epidermis and dermis (2 outer layers of skin) in a very controlled, precise manner. What should I expect during my MicroPen™ treatment?

A sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny micro-needles is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen. Our trained and experienced skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical gel to your skin and select the appropriate treatment depth based on your unique needs. Your skin will be cleaned thoroughly before starting the treatment. To start the MicroPen™ treatment, the tip of the pen is gently pressed against your skin while simultaneously gliding back and forth until the entire treatment area has been covered. Depending on the thickness of your skin and the condition being treated, your skincare provider may go over some areas a few times. Treatment time depends on the size of the treatment area and number of passes and usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes for full face.

Is there downtime after MicroPen treatments?

There is little to no downtime to recover from the procedure; the treatment may result in redness that varies from mild to moderate, depending on your skin type and the depth of your treatment. We have noticed that the routine use of SkinRE- GF Complex leads to less redness and quicker recovery compared with use of other treatment gels. Use of your PRP leads to even quicker recovery with very little redness. The redness may take anywhere from 24 hours to 4 days to go away. If you receive treatment in an area that you cannot easily conceal, you may want to allow time for the treatment site to heal.

When can I expect to see results?

Visible improvements to the treated area begin to appear over 2 to 3 weeks. Continued improvement may continue for up to 6 months following treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

Some patients only require 1 treatment each year. For optimal results, we usually perform 2 to 3 treatments at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks.
