What is the “Botox Jaw slimming” or “Botox jaw reduction treatment”?

Non surgical jaw reduction or non surgical face slimming can be achieved with neuromodulators like Botox, Xeomin or Dysport in certain individuals. The neuromodulators, Botox or Xeomin reduce or soften the jaw by weakening the overlying masseter muscle or the chewing muscles, which leads to reduction in the size of the masseter muscle over time. The result is a softer angle of the jaw and a slimmer, more feminine facial shape.

Who is a candidate for the Xeomin or Botox Jaw reduction treatment?

Anyone with well developed jaw muscles leading to excessively wide jawline due to the bulk of these muscles AND interested in softening the jawline for a slimmer, heart shaped, or more feminine appearing face shape is a candidate for this procedure. The results of this treatment can be predicted by estimating the strength and size of your jaw muscles before the treatment. Dr. Malik assesses every patient before any treatment to determine the safety and effectiveness of all the cosmetic skin treatments. The masseter muscle strength and size can be estimated by feeling the outer jaw line just below the ear as you clench down your teeth. If you can appreciate the size and strength of this muscle then you are likely to have good results from this procedure.

How do neuromodulators ( Botox or Xeomin) reduce the size of my jaw line?

When a neuromodulator like Botox or Xeomin is injected into the jaw muscle it partially relaxes it making it weaker. Over time the weaker muscle undergoes partial atrophy (breakdown) due to underuse, thereby reducing the size of the muscle and slimming the jawline. This type of jaw slimming is only observed in properly selected individuals which is why every patient needs thorough evaluation and explanation of realistic expectations; Dr. Malik takes the time to evaluate each patient and sets forth realistic expectations for each procedure before any treatment.

Is the Botox/Xeomin jaw slimming treatment painful?

Dr. Malik uses very small cosmetic needles, ice pack and chiller during the treatment to minimize any discomfort associated with the procedure. The needle stick pain is mild and transient. There may be mild tenderness of the treated area for one to three days after the treatment.

Is there a downtime after Botox/Xeomin jaw slimming treatment?

Any procedure with injectables carries a small risk of bruising, mild swelling and redness. Dr. Malik takes every precaution to minimize your risk of bruising but occasionally there may be mild to moderate bruising, swelling and redness due to circumstances out of Physician's control; such as your inherent tendency to bruise or swell or presence of micro blood vessels in the area of treatment. The procedure in itself takes less than ten minutes and you may resume your normal daily activities right after the treatment.

Will I have difficulty chewing my food after this treatment?

Rarely, there may be transient fatigue associated with chewing which may last from three to six weeks. This means your jaw feels tired while chewing. To avoid this side effect, Dr. Malik has a two part approach to the Botox Jaw slimming treatment. At you initial visit, Dr. Malik evaluates the muscle size and strength, assesses your goals, discusses your expectations, injects the identified muscles. She sees you for a follow up visit at two weeks; evaluates your progress , determines presence of any side effects, assesses the muscle size/strength and injects additional Botox or Xeomin if needed. When will I see the results?

In two weeks you will notice softening of the jaw angle and slight slimming of the jaw, this is due to weakening of the jaw muscle and not atrophy. The weakened jaw muscles will subsequently decrease in size (partial atrophy) and in about six weeks you will notice a more marked slimming of your jaw line. Studies show that repeated Botox/Xeomin injections lead to reduction of the jaw bone beneath the jaw muscle over time.

How long will the result last?

The slimming of the jawline with Botox /Xeomin injection may last between three to six months depending on individual differences in the size, strength of the jaw muscles and rate of metabolism of the neuromodulator. Dr. Malik suggests refraining from chewing gum or other activities leading to strengthening of jaw muscles to prolong the results. Individuals who repeat this treatment regularly may increase the duration of jaw slimming effect up to a year and may require a smaller dose of the neuromodulator to maintain the slim face.

The cost of initial consultation is $100 which is applied in entirety towards your jaw reduction with Botox or Xeomin treatment.

How much does the Jaw reduction with Botox or Xeomin cost?

The cost of jaw reduction with Botox or Xeomin in Dallas and Southlake depends on the size and the strength of the jaw muscles before starting the treatment and your response to the initial injection; which determines the amount of Botox or Xeomin required to achieve appropriate relaxation and subsequent atrophy. On average the cost is between $500 (for up to 30 units of Xeomin or Botox) and $1000(for up to 60 units of Xeomin or Botox) per treatment.

Is there an additional cost for touch up treatment?

Yes. Additional Xeomin or Botox touch up as needed is billed as $500 (for up to 30 units)  or $1000 (for up to 60 units) at the time of touch up treatment..

Does Xeomin or Botox Special price apply to jaw slimming treatments?

No. Botox or Xeomin for jaw slimming requires highly specialized skill set and advanced training in cosmetic injections, therefore billed as "the procedure cost" and not as price per unit of the neuromodulator used which may or may not be on special sale at the time of the treatment.
